There is ageless beauty in a piece of furniture made from real wood. Natural oxidation turns cherry to a dark burgundy color over time and oak to a dark rich brown. All of my furniture is made from solid wood, never veneered plywood. This requires careful thought in the design to ensure that the wood has room to breath. All wood will continually expand and contract with the changes in temperature and humidity. The only time plywood is ever used is as a drawer bottom, a dust shield between drawers and as the back panel. Even then, I sometimes make those parts from solid boards.
I enjoy making furniture and people say it shows. It is very satisfying to know that my pieces will be handed down for generations.
